Crescent Super Band Shares the Stage with Post Malone at Sold-Out Eccles Theater Benefit Concert
Crescent Super Band Shares the Stage with Post Malone at Sold-Out Eccles Theater Benefit Concert Last Tuesday evening, under the direction of Soundhouse founder Caleb Chapman, the Crescent Super Band lit up the Eccles Theater as the featured youth performers at the Primary Children’s Hospital benefit concert in Salt Lake City. Playing to a sold-out audience of more than 3,000 people, the band delivered the kind of high-energy, high-precision performance that has become a Soundhouse signature — one that held its own on a major stage filled with excitement, generosity, and surprise.
One of the evening’s most unforgettable moments came when the Crescent Super Band welcomed the One Voice Children’s Choir to the stage for a breathtaking finale of Shooting Stars (originally by Owl City). The interplay between the choir’s soaring harmonies and the band’s powerful big band instrumentation transformed the song into something cinematic, earning a long and enthusiastic standing ovation from the packed house.
Adding to the magic of the night, global superstar Post Malone — who quietly watched much of the Crescent Super Band’s set from the side of the stage— made a surprise appearance to close the event with an impromptu performance that electrified the audience. Afterward, Post spent generous time backstage with the Super Band members, offering heartfelt compliments to Chapman and the band, posing for photos, and visiting with them one-on-one. His enthusiasm for their musicianship and professionalism made a profound impact on the young performers, turning an already extraordinary night into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Beyond the music, the event was rooted in community service. Proceeds supported the “Primary Promise” campaign by Primary Children’s Hospital, which has raised more than $642 million to expand world-class pediatric care throughout the Intermountain West. For Soundhouse and the Crescent Super Band, contributing to such a meaningful mission made the night all the more significant.
This performance marks a powerful milestone — a sold-out theater, a surprise appearance by one of the world’s biggest artists, and a moment of genuine connection that our young musicians will carry with them for years to come. We couldn’t be prouder of the artists, parents, and producers who helped bring this inspiring evening to life.
