Everything you need to know before jumpstarting your career as an Artist — time, cost, certification, and expectations.
01How much time does NSCAP actually take?
Sessions run Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, January 18 through April 30. Expect several additional hours per week on your Signature Projects outside scheduled sessions. Evenings and Fridays stay open, so most Participants are able to continue gigging and working throughout the program.
02Can I keep my job?
Many Participants work evenings, weekends, and Fridays throughout the program. A full-time weekday job, however, is not compatible with the schedule. If you have specific commitments you’re unsure about, note them in your application and we’ll talk them through in your interview.
03I’m a producer, writer, or business-minded applicant, not primarily a performer. Can I still apply?
Yes. If performing isn’t your focus, submit a portfolio of your work in place of the performance video: two contrasting tracks, songs, or projects that show your range. The goal is the same either way. Show us what you can do!
04What does the application process look like?
Three steps. First, download the application, then email your completed application and performance video or work samples to Savanna Bonilla. Second, qualified applicants are invited to an entrance interview with Caleb Chapman. Third, cohort selection. Most applicants complete the application in 15 to 25 minutes, and you’ll hear from us within one week.
05What does my investment include?
Expert coaching, industry mentors, recording sessions, headshots, brand development, your Professional Portfolio, review by the NSCAP Review Panel, and certification as a Next Stage Professional.
06How do payment plans work?
The founding cohort rate is $5,000 when paid in full by January 1, 2027. The standard program investment is $10,000, and payment plans are available upon acceptance.
07How is certification decided?
In your final week, you’ll present your Professional Portfolio to the NSCAP Review Panel. Participants who meet the program’s rigorous standards earn certification. Participants who aren’t yet at standard receive specific feedback and an invitation to present again.
08Who recognizes the certification?
The credential represents the Soundhouse standard. The stronger asset is the registered business, completed Professional Portfolio, published content, release-ready recordings, and industry relationships you’ll hold when you earn it.
09Do I need my own equipment?
Bring your instrument and a laptop you can use daily. Studio equipment, recording facilities, and production tools are provided at the Soundhouse.
10I’m from out of town. Is housing provided?
Participants arrange their own housing for the 14 weeks. We’re happy to point accepted Participants toward local options near the Soundhouse in Pleasant Grove.
