Last Saturday evening, Salt Lake City’s magnificent Eccles Theater was the site of a historic musical celebration as legendary singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins was formally inducted into the People’s Music Hall of Fame. The annual ceremony, presented by the Sound Support Foundation alongside Adam Reader — widely known as the Professor of Rock — honored Loggins’ enduring influence on popular music, film soundtracks, and cultural memory.
One of the night’s most memorable highlights came when the artists of Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse took the stage alongside Loggins to perform a show-stopping finale of “Footloose.” The high-energy performance brought the entire theater to its feet. The final act included dynamic swing dancers choreographed by Aimee Kennington, Alan Kennington, Todd Wakefield, and Paul Winkelman, transforming the iconic hit into a full-scale production number worthy of Broadway. The collaboration between Loggins and the Soundhouse artists created a powerful bridge between generations — seasoned legend and rising stars sharing one unforgettable moment.
In addition to the music, the evening featured a heartfelt and in-depth interview between Loggins and Adam Reader. Their on-stage conversation offered behind-the-scenes stories from Loggins’ career, insights into his songwriting process, and reflections on the cultural impact of his film soundtracks. The discussion underscored Loggins’ belief in the power of music to connect generations — a theme embodied throughout the night as young performers honored a timeless catalog.
The celebration also featured special appearances and performances by Huey Lewis, Marc Russo, Hunter Hawkins, Adam Reader, and Caleb Chapman, alongside the artists of Soundhouse. Each contribution added depth and excitement to the program, making the induction not only a tribute but a true concert experience.
Beyond celebrating Loggins’ artistic legacy, the event served a greater purpose: supporting the Sound Support Foundation’s ongoing mission of empowering young musicians.
Proceeds from the induction ceremony will go directly to student scholarships and music performance programs, strengthening opportunities for youth across the region and ensuring that the next generation of artists has access to world-class training and mentorship.
This latest induction marks a significant moment in the People’s Music Hall of Fame’s young history — following its inaugural honoree, Huey Lewis, in 2025 — and reflects a shared commitment to honoring music that has shaped lives across generations. For Soundhouse artists, producers, and families, the night was more than a celebration of an icon. It was an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of music, mentorship, and community — and a milestone evening that will be remembered for years to come.
